St. Louis Family Church was born in Jeff Perry's heart in 1977 when he was living in Chesterfield, Missouri. God's call and direction led him to complete Bible school, serve as a missionary, and work faithfully in fulltime ministry. Eventually, in June 1988, Pastors Jeff and Patsy held the first SLFC church service in Chesterfield--with 128 people.
They started out meeting on Friday nights because that's when their "borrowed" church buildings were free. As they outgrew one place, they'd move to another until finally, in spring 1993, they moved into their own building on Chesterfield Airport Road in the heart of the Chesterfield Valley.
Just a few months later, SLFC's brand new home was submerged in 9 feet of filthy flood water when the Missouri River flooded the Chesterfield Valley in the Great Flood of '93. But that didn't stop this bunch.
They grabbed their shovels and started to clean up. Hundreds of volunteers from Family Church and Service International spread throughout the Valley helping residents and business owners rebuild and recover. In spring 1994, by the grace of God, they reclaimed their land and buildings, more determined than ever to reach their world.
Since then, Pastor Jeff and the congregation have seen thousands come to Christ and join their ranks as they honor God and follow the leading of the Holy Spirit with faith-filled optimism and Jesus' message of hope.
